$18,790,000 JURY VERDICT in Alabama Freightliner Case

By Richard Hille on Mar 23, 2015 at 09:42 AM

Colin T. Lacy was assured that the vibration he was feeling was not related to any safety issue, even though the vehicle had just been serviced at the Freightliner dealership. While driving the truck on a rainy Florida highway in the normal course of his employment, the vehicle went out of control and subsequently rolled over. It turns out the service department had left a lateral control rod detached and also caused a problem with the antilock brake system. An additional issue arose when Mr. Lacy's safety belt released allowing him to be ejected from the vehicle and he was catastrophically injured. Greg Allen of the Montgomery, Alabama law firm Beasley Allen Law Firm, with the help of many others, convinced a Mobile, Alabama jury to award Mr. Lacy a verdict of $18,790,000. Neil Hannemann worked extensively on several of the issues in the case and gave pre-trial testimony leading to settlements before trial.
